Moving and Assisting of People Level 2 (VTQ)

The 5 hour course is designed to meet the requirements and recommendations of the HSE Manual Handling Regulations 1992 as well as other relevant regulations and guidelines. It also includes a module on slips, trips and falls.

This qualification is intended as a further development qualification for those working in areas where the assistance and movement of people is an essential part of their role. Individuals gaining this qualification will learn that any moving and handling must be carried out correctly and recognise the importance of this in ensuring a safer working environment for all.

Course Curriculum:

 

  • Understand Health and Safety legislation and regulations relating to Moving and positioning of people​.

  • Understand Person Centred Legislation, regulations and policies/procedures/codes of practice​ 3. Understand musculoskeletal injuries and the spine. 

  • ​Understand principles of lifting including the centre of gravity, the base of support, the position of power and biomechanics. 

  • ​Be Able to Identify controversial techniques and shoulder injury prevention.

  • ​Understand Patient/service user/clients skin. ​

  • Be able to use the equipment and correct moving and positioning techniques.
